This really doesn't count as a true DXpedition but more like a weekend excursion. I put together a simple dual band vertical using 300 ohm twinlead (from kd6glf QST Sept. 1994). Enclosed it in the pvc pipe and mounted it onto a painters extension pole.
Works very well compared to my HT whip. Actually could monitor the local Waltham MA 2m repeater from 100 miles away! Signal was weak, about an S2 on my HT. Didn't even attempt to hit it but the antenna worked well enough to make some local contacts!
Next summer I will tweak it up a little and try to hit Waltham with it.
